Maintenance of Traffic

These courses are for all personnel responsible for the planning, development, design, implementation, operation, enforcement and inspection of work zone related transportation management and temporary traffic control on Florida's streets and highways within State Highway System right-of-way.

FDOT Maintenance of Traffic - Basic - Flagger

Who: All employees who have flagging duties.

Prerequisites: None, although students must read, speak and understand English.

  • Students need to provide a valid Florida Driver License.

Description: This course prepares employees to perform flagging duties. The class will cover Part 6-E of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Florida Design Standards, record keeping and field demonstration requirements. Students successfully completing this class will receive a certificate and wallet card from the FDOT and be registered on the State of Florida list of qualified flaggers. This class must be taken every four years.

Class Duration: 4 hours

 

FDOT Maintenance of Traffic - Intermediate

Who: All employees required to set up, maintain or design Temporary Traffic Control Zones.

Prerequisites: None, although students must read, speak and understand English.

  • Students need to provide a valid Florida Driver License.

Description: This certification class will prepare employees to design, set up and maintain Temporary Traffic Control Zones. This course focuses on the use of Florida Design Standards. Students successfully completing this class and the exam with a 70% or greater will receive a certificate and wallet card from the FDOT and will be added to the State of Florida list. A refresher class must be taken every four years.

Class Duration: 16 hours

FDOT Maintenance of Traffic - Intermediate Refresher

Member Price: $150 | Non-Member Price: $160 MOT Intermediate Refresher

Prerequisites: A current MOT Intermediate certificate. Students must read, speak and understand English.

  • Students need to provide a valid Florida Driver License.
  • For MOT refresher class please bring a copy of your current MOT qualification card.

Description: Students successfully completing this class and the exam with a 70% or greater will receive a certificate and wallet card from the FDOT and will be added to the State of Florida list. This class must be retaken every four years.

Class Duration: 8 hours

FDOT Maintenance of Traffic - Advanced

Member Price: $325 | Non-Member Price: $350 MOT Advanced

Who: All employees required to design Temporary Traffic Control Zones - engineers and workzone traffic control supervisors.

Prerequisites: None, although students must read, speak and understand English.

  • Students need to provide a valid Florida Driver License.

Description: This class prepares employees to design, set up and maintain Temporary Traffic Control Zones. However, this course focuses on the Florida Design Standard, Plans Preparation Manual, Program Administration Manual and other FDOT manuals. Students successfully completing this class and the exam with a 70% or greater will receive a certificate and wallet card from the FDOT and will be added to the State of Florida list. A refresher class must be taken every four years.

Class Duration: 20 hours

FDOT Maintenance of Traffic - Advanced Refresher

Member Price: $200 | Non-Member Price: $220 MOT Advaned Refresher
