Suncoast Safety Council makes it easy for you to take your permit test online and skip the lines at the DMV! You can complete this exam 100% online and your results will automatically be submitted electronically to the Florida DHSMV.

To get your permit you must:

  • Have have a signed/notarized Parental Consent Form (step-parents may not sign unless they have legally adopted the minor child)
  • Pass the online exam (register here)
  • Provide documents needed to establish proof of identity. Please visit flhsmv.gov/WhatToBring for a list of acceptable documents.
  • Pass a vision and hearing test at the service center when you pick up your permit.

    Important - You MUST complete the exam in one session. If you do not complete the exam in the 60 minute time-frame it will count as a failed exam. You will then need to re-register. You are only allowed 3 attempts before you will need to take the exam in person at the Tax Collector's office.

    Note: Per Florida Statute 322.56(3)(b) and (e), a customer who takes (and passes) the Class E Knowledge or Skills Exam through an authorized Third Party Administrator may be randomly selected for a mandatory re-test without prior notice. After a re-test with a passing score is completed in a driver license or tax collector office, the driver license will be issued. A failed mandatory re-test will require a re-exam fee be collected at the next exam attempt.
